“I finally got my citizenship! I was contacted by the lawyer in Italy about a month and a half ago to tell me my court case – I was a ’48er – was resolved with me and my son being recognized as Italian citizens!
It’s been a bit of a long journey because of all of the documents needed but one your office warned me about – a good thing! The process was expensive and sometimes slow – again, your office was very upfront about these and didn’t sugar-coat anything, which I appreciate a lot – but for me, this has all been well worth it. Now I have to wait for the Italian government to notify the commune to register my birth. Then I can get my passport and plan my move to Italy.
When I first contacted your office I was unsure if I could ever get Italian citizenship because of the 1948 law. But your office explained what that meant for me regarding citizenship and gave me hope while tempering it with caution that it wasn’t something guaranteed I would get. But, in the end, I was successful.
